SHP Makes the Grade

Sutton's MPs Paul Burstow and Tom Brake have welcomed today's announcement that Sutton Housing Partnership (SHP), which manages Sutton Council's properties, has been awarded two stars by the Audit Commission and a downpayment of £5 million on an investment programme of £112.5 million.

Tom Brake said, "This is the news Sutton's tenants had been waiting for. These two stars are a tribute to the work done by Sutton's tenants and SHP to improve the service provided by SHP. The first £5 million of funding will allow work to start on improving hundreds of properties and it will guarantee local jobs."

Commenting on the announcement Paul Burstow said, "The fact that the Government is going to honour its promise after all and pay the decent homes money to Sutton is excellent news for tenants and proves that lobbying can make a difference. The news on the star rating is the icing on the cake and a testament to a lot of hard work by a lot of people."
