Sutton Conservatives still searching for ideas12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 21st Jul 2009 After a debate on tackling the inequalities that exist in Sutton borough at last night's Council meeting, Sutton Conservatives demonstrated again that their search for ideas to offer the residents of the borough is ongoing. As Liberal Democrat Councillors outlined their plans and targets to provide high quality services to all residents and bridge the gaps in opportunities for our most deprived, excluded and vulnerable, the Conservative Group failed to meet the challenge of providing alternative proposals. In a recent survey of residents over 80% said they were happy with their area as a place to live. With a strong track record of working with partners to tackle the challenges that Sutton faces and recognition from independent inspectors at the Audit Commission that the council's performance continues to improve strongly, Sutton Liberal Democrats called on the Conservatives to outline what they would do differently. Speaking after the debate Cllr Sean Brennan said: "Of course there is more we can do to make Sutton an even better place to live and working with our partners and more importantly residents, we are putting into action our policies to make Sutton greener, safer and fairer for everyone. "What is unclear is what the Conservative Opposition Group are offering the residents of Sutton as their vision for the borough - what they would do differently and exactly how do they plan to meet the challenges we face as a borough. "It is clear that the Conservatives' search for ideas still goes on."
