Wendy Mathys was elected Councillor for Sutton West Ward in May 2010 and Chairs the Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee.
Brought up in Liverpool, Wendy worked in London as a solicitor for 12 years specialising in children and family issues. Wendy also lived in Aberdeen and Ewell before moving to Cheam in 1996.
Wendy has worked as a community volunteer for various local organisations including Mid-Surrey Community Health Council representing a charity for disabled people. Subsequently Wendy became a Board Member of Merton & Sutton Health Authority and of Sutton Housing Partnership and assisted with other charities including a national Special Educational Needs advice line. Wendy has 3 adult children. Following a family tradition, Wendy has long been interested in politics , having joined Crosby Young Liberals in her teens. Other interests include the theatre, sailing and hiking.
