
Cllr Simon Wales was first elected to represent Sutton West ward in May 2006 and was re-elected in 2010 when he joined the Executive with responsibility for Communities, Transport and the Voluntary Sector. He sits on the boards of the Citizens' Advice Bureau, Sutton Centre for the Voluntary Sector, Sutton Racial Equality Council and the Refugee and Migrant Network. He chairs the Equality and Diversity Forum, the Publich Health Strategy Group and sits on the Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board.
Simon first moved to the borough in 1974 and now lives in the ward with his partner. In his spare time he runs a Scottish dance performance group and works as a caller with various dance bands at weddings and ceilidhs - even running two ceilidhs for the Mayors' charities. Interests: music (classical and folk), theatre and the arts generally.
