Roger Thistle lives in The Wrythe Ward that he represents, has been a Sutton resident since 1977, and a Carshalton one for over twenty-seven years.
He has served on Sutton Council for seventeen years, representing areas as diverse as Carshalton Village, the Woodcote Smallholdings and Durand Close Estate. He has held a range of chairs in Social Services and Housing and was Deputy Mayor at the Millenium. He currently chairs Sutton's Pension Committee, serves on Sutton Community and Police Forum, is an adviser to the Council's Executive on social housing, and Deputy Chair of the Lib Dem Council Group.
He was a founder director of SCILL, Sutton Centre for Independent Living and Learning, the borough's flagship centre for people with disabilities, and currently is actively involved in the regeneration of Durand Close, and the transformation of social housing in the borough.
