Mary is Cheam's first ever Liberal Democrat Councillor and wants to show the people of Cheam that having a Liberal Democrat really can make a difference. In her first year she has successfully resolved the issue of the dumped rubbish behind Matlock Crescent which had been there for over 3 years. She is spearheading a campaign to see a copse planted in Cheam Recreation Ground to mark the Queens Diamond Jubilee and is hoping to get additional bike racks installed in Cheam Station.
As Mary lives, shops and her children all go to school in Cheam, she finds it very easy to hear about and spot things which need resolving. She just takes a photo of the problem and emails it off to the relevant authority. Using this method she has seen branches removed, signs repaired and replaced and pot holes filled in. Mary says "People put their trust in me, to be their Ward Councillor. I want to make them proud."
