Cllr John Leach was first elected to Beddington North ward in 1994 and has represented that ward ever since. He is married with 2 adult children and 7, nearly 8, grandchildren. He is a member of St Patricks Church, Wallington.
John currently chairs the Development Control planning committee. He is a solicitor in private practice and is also a governor at Wilson's School. He was formerly a non-executive director of St Helier NHS Hospital Trust and is a life member of the Sutton & Cheam swimming club. He was a past president of the Amateur Swimming Association.
John has lived in the Borough all his life. He was Mayor in 2001/2 and Deputy Mayor in 2002/3 and 2009/10. He is a Mitcham Common Conservator and has many other leisure interests as well.
