John Drage, along with his wife Elaine, has lived in the Borough since 1979 - initially in Wallington and since 1992 in Sutton - and raised their family here. They are both long standing members of Holy Trinity church in Wallington
John Drage was elected to Sutton Council in 2006 and immediately joined the Executive with responsibility for Resources (now Finance and Efficiency). He is project champion of Sutton's flagship project to make Hackbridge the UK's first sustainable suburb. He is also a member of the four Borough South London Waste Committee, and of the Greater London Employment Forum and Provincial Council.
Prior to being elected to Sutton Council John had a long career at the Bank of England including as adviser to the Governor on international financial policy issues. Between University in Bristol and joining the Bank of England John spent three years working as a Field Officer for the United Nations Children's Fund in northern India.
