My husband, Peter, and I moved to South Sutton in 1988 to be closer to my parents and other members of my family.
My career has been mainly in business where I specialised in government and international relations, trying to improve conditions for British business. However, I have spent time in both the Home Office and the Export Credits Guarantee Department.
Throughout my life I have always been active in voluntary work and eventually decided to train as an advisor at Sutton's Citizen's Advice Bureau. This has proved invaluable experience for me as a councillor. I then set up the Learning Disability Coalition whose aim was to safeguard and improve funding for services for people with a learning disability.
As a councillor my focus is first on the issues that residents bring to me and then on care for vulnerable people.
