I've lived in Sutton for 26 years and worked for a number of large companies like Sainsburys and HSBC in this time. My children were born in St Helier Hospital and went to local schools. I'm now a Director of the London Waste & Recycling Board - a bit like Dragon's Den for the waste sector (!) and recently I became a Director of Living Streets, a pedestrians' charity that encourages walking for fun and health. It has been my privilege to serve on Sutton Council for 13 years. During this time my responsibilities have included Preschool Services, Planning, Parking and Playgrounds. I am now the Council's Lead Member for Environment and Climate Change and I lead the Lib Dems on London Councils Transport and Environment Committee. I have been responsible for making Lib Dem-run Sutton one of the greenest Councils in London. Now it is time to make Boris Johnson's Transport for London more accountable to residents. So I have turned my attention to this and as a direct result all London boroughs have a greater say in how TfL spends our money. Locally this has led to a major £1.6m project to improve Wallington town centre. A similar project has now started in Worcester Park.
