
Alan Salter worked for a large book publishing firm for 19 years, finishing in 1986 as Group Management Accountant.
He started his own accountancy business, which moved to the Borough in 1997.

A former Chair of Reigate Constituency Liberal Democrats, he has been involved in community politics since 1973, joining the Young Liberals and Liberal Party during the following year. Alan has helped out at many parliamentary by-elections in England, Scotland and Wales since 1976.

He was elected as a councillor for Carshalton Central ward in 2010.

Alan is currently Hon.Treasurer of Carshalton Association for the Elderly, and also sits on the committees of Sutton Seniors Forum and The Friends of Honeywood Museum. He was appointed Vice Chair of the Borough`s Audit Committee in 2011.

Alan's interests include music, sport, public transport and the environment. He has travelled extensively in Southern Africa, South & Southeast Asia, and Central & Eastern Europe.
