Sutton Council is calling for residents to have their say on how they would like to see Carshalton College redeveloped.
The college needs modern classrooms and workshops for its students and it hopes to demolish existing buildings so the land can be used for new homes.
Now, local people are being invited to comment on proposals, which include suggested locations for new buildings and green measures, such as plans to keep mature trees along Denmark Road. Planning applications with final designs will be submitted after the consultation is complete.
Cllr Jayne McCoy, Chair of the Housing, Economy and Business Committee at Sutton Council, said: "These new facilities will be a great boost for students at Carshalton College. The college sits near the heart of Carshalton in an important site for the local community, so we want to make sure that everyone who uses the area is happy with the plans. The consultation is an excellent opportunity for local people to have their say and help shape the project."
Peter Mayhew-Smith, Principal of the College, said: "We have been working on our future plans for the development of the site for the past 18 months. This planning brief represents a long term vision for the future of the site which will help us ensure that we continue to offer modernised facilities for the people of Sutton in the 21st Century. We welcome the input of the local community on our future development proposals".
Full details of the proposals can be seen at council offices and Carshalton and Sutton Central libraries. For more information or to take part in the consultation visit: www.sutton.gov.uk/carshaltoncollege or contact Anthony Franklin on 020 8770 6181.
