Tech-savvy bookworms are being invited to join the new group, which will discuss a book a month on Sutton library's Facebook page.
All featured books are available through a database of 19,000 books which can be downloaded for free onto eReaders, smartphones and computers. Available through the 'additional books' link on the Sutton eLibrary homepage, they can be downloaded permanently and do not count against borrowing limits.
Cllr Graham Tope, Executive Member for Community Safety, Leisure and Libraries on Sutton Council, said: "If you've been lucky enough to get a new eReader, smartphone or PC for Christmas then the eLibrary is a great way of starting off a new eBook collection.
"Discussing books with like-minded people can show new sides to old favourites and help you to discover new ones, but it can sometimes be hard to find time to attend a traditional book group regularly. Moving the conversation online will make it easy for readers to fit book chat into their busy lives."
The first book will be Jane Austen's Emma, and the discussion will begin on Sunday 1 January. To take part, go to Sutton Library's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Sutton-Central-Library-UK
