Sixty additional school places will be available at to two popular primary schools from September this year after Sutton Council agreed to open two additional classes at the schools.
After consulting with several schools, the Council has agreed to open the two additional classes at Barrow Hedges Primary School and Brookfield Primary School.
These two new classes are additional to the new building at Hackbridge Primary which also opens in 2010 and gives 30 more places for local children.
Cllr Kirsty Jerome, Executive Member for Education and Schools at Sutton Council, said: "Sutton schools are among the best in the country and they are becoming increasingly popular.
"We understand the concerns of local parents who want their children to get places within the borough and who have seen demand at schools grow every year, even more than predicted.
"We are grateful for the positive support from the headteachers and governors at Barrow Hedges Primary and Brookfield Primary for agreeing to take additional children by setting up an extra class at their schools.
"As more and more people decide to send their children to Sutton schools we will be continuing to ask the Government for a fairer allocation of the funding we vitally need to ensure that we can to meet the needs of local children and families."
