Sutton Liberal Democrats today published their manifesto for the May 6th council election, setting out their plans to deliver a safer, fairer and greener future for Sutton residents.
The plans include tackling underage drinking and antisocial behaviour, providing more activities and places to go for young people, building extra classrooms for more than 200 primary school children, increasing the items you can recycle while reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill and promoting apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
The manifesto builds on a 24 year record of delivering improvements in the local environment, offering high quality services for our vulnerable adults and children and working with local police to make Sutton one of the safest boroughs in London.
Launching the manifesto, Sean Brennan, Liberal Democrat Leader of Sutton Council said:
"Over the last four years Sutton Liberal Democrats have continued to develop exciting plans to shape Sutton's future and create the borough our residents deserve.
"But we've also taken action to improve our local areas, offering immediate help to our residents and local businesses as they struggle through the recession.
"There is no doubt that the years to come will be challenging for all councils but I believe that working with our residents and partners, the Liberal Democrats will deliver the policies needed to make Sutton a safer, fairer and greener borough."
Tom Brake MP commented:
"The manifesto, with its focus on making Sutton safer, shows that Sutton's Liberal Democrats are responding to people's number one concern. We will fight to make Sutton an even safer place.'
Paul Burstow MP also commented:
"This manifesto demonstrates the difference the Liberal Democrats make. By working as a team, Lib Dem MPs and Councillors together, we get things done and stand up for the area."
